During its delegation’s visit to Malaysia, Leaders for Peace had the honor of meeting with the Alliance Française in Penang, led by Michael Gonçalves. During this meeting, Leaders for Peace heard from Chloé D., a 12-year-old student at the Alliance Française, who delivered a powerful speech in support of peace. Her words resonated deeply with the delegation, and particularly with Mr. Raffarin, who made a point of commending Chloé D.’s remarks.
Hello, my name is Chloe. I am Canadian-Vietnamese, and I study at Dalat, a school in Penang.
For me, the definition of peace is a moment when everyone can relax, breathe, and take their time without stress. It’s a moment when I don’t have time to worry about things like war or violence.
I know that at 12 years old, I cannot convince a general or president to stop war. But I believe that the desire of children to help and see a calmer world is very strong.
So, I think that it is mostly the adults that have to carry our voices and speak for the millions of children that cry for peace. I am certain that even the leaders and generals of countries also want peace for their own children.
For me, a world of peace is a world where each and every child can go to school every day.
A world where I can buy chocolates for my friends, and a place where my grandmother can garden quietly.
Every child deserves a warm bed, a secure home, and the possibility of growing up without fear. I wish every child can live in a peaceful world. However, at this moment, we have to create a path for this big dream.

Pour moi, la définition de la paix, c’est un moment où tout le monde peut se détendre, respirer et prendre son temps sans stress. C’est un moment où je n’ai pas besoin de m’inquiéter de choses comme la guerre ou la violence.
Je sais qu’à 12 ans, je ne peux pas convaincre un général ou un président d’arrêter une guerre. Mais je crois qu’elle désir des enfants d’aider et de voir un monde plus calme est très fort.
Alors que pense que ce sont surtout les adultes qui doivent porter notre voix et parler pour les millions d’enfants qui crient pour la paix. Je suis certaine que tous les présidents et les généraux veulent eux aussi la paix pour leurs propres enfants.
Pour moi, un monde en paix, c’est un monde où tous les enfants peuvent aller à l’école tous les jours. C’est un monde où je peux acheter du chocolat pour mes amis, et un endroit où ma grand-mère peut jardiner tranquillement.
Tous les enfants méritent un lit chaud, une maison sûre, et la possibilité de grandir sans peur. Je souhaite que tous les enfants puissent vivre dans un monde paisible. Mais en ce moment, on a besoin de créer un chemin pour ce grand rêve.
